University of Manitoba Continues to Show in Commuter Challenge

Another new year and another great showing for the University of Manitoba in Commuter Challenge. University of Manitoba staff, students, and faculty from Bannatyne and Fort Garry campus chose to bike, walk, carpool, or bus on their daily commute from June 3-9. This year, 630 University of Manitoba participants logged over 43,000km of sustainable commuting which avoided almost 7,000kg of CO2.

Commuter Challenge is a friendly competition Canada-wide to challenge businesses and individuals to ditch driving alone to and from work and choosing to take a more sustainable options. This year, over 15,000 Canadians participated, logging over 1,250,000km of green commuting.

This year, prizes are available to participants from both the University of Manitoba and Green Action Centre, Manitoba’s provincial commuter challenge organizers. Grand prizes include 10-punch passes to the Active Living Centre’s Climbing Wall, free transit for a year, tickets to Folk Fest, and so much more! Check back soon to see if you have won something!
